Kaieteur Sports – A scorching half-century from Andrew Lyght Jr. guided Headquarters to a commanding 7-wicket victory over Region #5 in yesterday’s opening match of the Commissioner of Police T20 Cup, played at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary.
Batting first, Region #5 got to 147 for 9 from their allotted 20 overs with Trevon Charles spanking 39 with two fours and three sixes, while Grisean Grant chipped in without 22 (4×4 2×6).
Headquarters bowling was led by Ameer Mohammed who snared 3-16 from 4 overs, while Kanhaiya Ramkarran bagged 2-36 runs from his 4 overs.
In reply, Headquarters arrested their fellow lawmen by reaching 150 for 3 in 14.3 overs, after a devastating knock from Lyght who smashed 82 from 39 balls, with 12 fours and 3 maximums.
Former West Indies opener Sewnarine Chattergoon stroked a classy 34 runs, which featured four fours and one six, to help support Lyght who finished unbeaten.
