Kaieteur Sports – The Bush Lot Turf Club is set to come alive on Sunday, March 1, as the club stages its highly anticipated non-promotion horserace meet, a fundraiser event that reflects the growing momentum within the local horseracing fraternity.
With competition on the rise and enthusiasm building across the racing community, this Sunday, all hooves will be grounded in West Coast Berbice, fans can expect a packed day of events, featuring five exciting races with attractive cash prizes.
Among the marquee events are the seven-furlong J-Class and Lower race and the six-furlong L-Class Open race, both boasting an attractive $150,000 first-place prize. These two races are expected to draw some of the top competitors and deliver thrilling finishes down the stretch.
The programme also includes a six-furlong three-year-old Maiden race, where emerging talent will be on display. The winner of this contest will pocket $100,000, providing a strong incentive for jockey’s eager to make their mark.
Adding variety to the meet are two Ranch/Farm horse events. A three-furlong Group 1 and 2 race, both groups will see winners claiming $30,000 and $25,000 respectively, while the final event will feature a Group 3 Ranch/Farm race over two furlongs, this event offers a $25,000 first-place prize.
As time draws closer, organiser Kevin Ramlochan expressed confidence ahead of race day, noting that preparations are approximately 90 percent complete. “Our team is working hard to assure the public a fantastic meet come this Sunday,” he stated, emphasizing his commitment to delivering a successful fundraiser event.
The Trophy Stall has thrown its support for the event with Mrs Devi Sunich presenting trophies to Kevin Ramlochan for the event.
The meet has been made possible through the support of several key sponsors, including KEV, Jumbo Jet Junior, Big G Racing Stable, Ramroop Racing Stable, and Imran and Shockings Racing Stable.
