Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Chess Federation (GCF) welcomes 2026 with its first event of the new year when the country’s young chess masters collide in the National Under-12 Rapid Chess Championships, sponsored by ACADO Guyana.
The company will be supporting the tournament under its MOO! Milk brand, with action getting underway on Saturday January 10. Action will be hosted at the new ACADO Building, located on the Heroes Highway, with more than 50 prospects duking it out in two categories.
The tournament will be played under Swiss rules with a 15-minute timer for the 7 rounds with categories for both Boys and Girls being played under 3 age groups; U-12, U-10 and U-8; with both legs expected to produce new faces given the immense youth talent pool. Respective winners in the top 3 positions will be awarded with trophies and medals for the U10 and U8 legs.
Meanwhile, action this weekend is expected to get underway from 9:30h.
