(Kaieteur News) – Police on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) are investigating the discovery of human remains which were found in one of two houses which were destroyed by a fire at Bee Hive Village.
According to information provided by the police, a fire reportedly destroyed two homes between 23:50hrs on March 11, 2026 and 01:00hrs on March 12, 2026. The houses belonged to 62-year-old Davanand Sawh called “Cheow,” and Vidishwar Ramkissoon, 64, a farmer also of Bee Hive Village.
Reports are that the Guyana Fire Service responded and extinguished the blaze.
After the fire was extinguished, police ranks visited the scene where searches were conducted among the debris. Police reported that “what appeared to be human remains, suspected to be those of Davanand Sawh,” were discovered at the premises.
The remains were taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home where it awaits a post-mortem examination. Police noted that no other persons were reported injured during the incident.
