Kaieteur Sports – The stage is set for a thrilling showdown as the final two teams booked their spots in the 2025 KFC International Goodwill Football Series final following two pulsating semifinal encounters on Thursday evening at the Ministry of Education Ground.

St Benedict’s stamps authority in 2-0 win against Kinston College to advance into 2025 KFC Goodwill Football Final.
St Benedict’s College of Trinidad and Tobago continued their impressive run, as defensive discipline and clinical finishes carried them to a 2–0 victory over Jamaica’s Kingston College. The win secured St Benedict’s a place in the final, where they will meet defending champions Chase’s Academic Foundation of Guyana.
The Trinidadians wasted little time stamping their authority, with Ruben Phillip delivering a first-half masterclass. Phillip broke the deadlock in the 28th minute before striking again deep into first-half stoppage time (45+3), sending St Benedict’s into the break firmly in control. Despite a decent second half for the Jamaicans, goals were still hard to come by. St Benedict’s backline remained resolute throughout, shutting down Kingston College and preserving a clean sheet to seal a deserved semifinal triumph.
St Benedict’s victory marked Kingston College’s second consecutive defeat in the tournament, having fallen to the 2024 champions the previous night. Phillip’s brace not only electrified the crowd but underscored the team’s balance between defensive solidity and attacking flair.
In the second semifinal, home favourites and reigning champions Chase’s Academic Foundation delivered a dominant performance, dismantling Suriname Technical Institute 5–0 to cruise into yet another KFC final.
Chase’s intent was clear from the opening whistle. Malcom Hendricks rose highest to nod home a corner kick in the fourth minute, giving the champions an early lead. Just four minutes later, Isaiah Ifill doubled the advantage with a composed finish from close range. Neeiaz Baksh added a third (goal) only two minutes later, calmly caressing the ball into the net as Chase raced to a commanding lead.
To their credit, Suriname Technical Institute tightened defensively after the early onslaught, limiting further damage and heading into halftime trailing 3–0.
The second half resumed with Chase pressing relentlessly. After a few near misses, Whitney King unleashed a thunderous free-kick from just outside the box in the 56th minute, extending the lead to 4–0. Shaquan David then put the finishing touch on a comprehensive display, slicing through the Surinamese defence to net the fifth and final goal of the match.
With both St Benedict’s College and Chase’s Academic Foundation unbeaten in the tournament, Sunday’s final promises to be a high-quality contest between two of the competition’s best sides.
The grand finale of the Sixth Annual International Secondary School Football Championship will be played on Sunday, December 21, at the Ministry of Education Ground, where Chase’s Academic Foundation will defend their title against a confident St Benedict’s College outfit. Before that, Jamaica will go up against Suriname for the third-place spot.
This year’s tournament is made possible through the support of KFC Guyana, also backed by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Ministry of Amerindian Affairs, MVP Sports, Austal, SkyTec Enterprise, New GPC Inc. through its Limacol brand, ANSA McAL with its Lucozade brand, Royal International Hotel, Demerara Mutual, and Trans Guyana Airways. The competition is also sanctioned by the Ministry of Education.
