(Kaieteur News) – Tropical Shipping, the U.S.-based transportation and logistics company with over 60 years of global service, has made another impactful contribution to the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central (RCGC).
The donation was presented during a brief ceremony at Tropical Shipping’s Georgetown office on High Street, Kingston. Mrs. Glenis Hodge, Country Manager for Tropical Shipping in Guyana, handed over the contribution alongside her local team, emphasising that the initiative is part of the company’s long-standing community relations program, which supports sustainable youth and educational projects and strengthens resilience across the more than 30 regions it serves.

“Tropical Shipping views community engagement as an essential part of our mission,” Mrs. Hodge said. “Our community relations program provides continued support for the countries and islands where we serve, contributing to sustainability, growth, and development. Good partnerships are required to make this happen, and we value our collaboration with organisations like Rotary Georgetown Central.”
She further noted that the company remains committed to investing in youth development initiatives that help young people build skills, access opportunities, and contribute meaningfully to society. “Our donation today demonstrates that our commitment to youth development in a rapidly growing Guyana,” she added. “We hope this contribution helps more young people benefit from educational and developmental activities, opening doors of opportunities and supporting Guyana’s continued progress.”
Lloyd David, president of the Rotary Club, expressed his appreciation, noting, “The Rotary Club of Georgetown Central is extremely grateful to Tropical Shipping for the funding provided over the last three years. These funds have enabled the Club to deliver on its annual projects, particularly those related to education and literacy in Guyana. RCGC will continue to collaborate with donors like Tropical Shipping to impact lives and change communities across our country for good.”
For more than 30 years in Guyana, and over six decades globally, Tropical Shipping has supported programmes aimed at strengthening communities and fostering long-term development. The company reaffirmed its intention to continue these efforts as it expands within the dynamic shipping industry.
