Kaieteur Sports – The Petra Organisation is set to decide its 2025 finalists tomorrow (Saturday November 29) when the ninth Annual MVP Sports Girls Under-11 Football Tournament enters its most intense stage yet; the quarterfinals and semifinals at the Ministry of Education Ground.
Backed by title sponsor MVP Sports, along with support from Demerara Mutual, the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs, Soft & Pretty Toiletries, the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport, and Sterling Products Limited, the competition has delivered three weeks of grit, flair and growing rivalries. Now the road to the finals narrows sharply.
After three rounds of play, three teams have set themselves apart, going undefeated so far in the competition. Marian Academy, Santa Rosa Primary and Waramuri Primary are likely favourites to take the 2025 crown. Their cohesion, speed, and scoring efficiency have made them the teams to beat heading into Saturday’s elimination rounds.
But several determined challengers, including West Ruimveldt, St John the Baptist, and Georgetown International Academy, still have a fighting chance to break into the final four. With the stakes rising, anything remains possible.
Before the main slate begins, a crucial playoff between Genesis Academy and Potaro Primary will determine the final quarterfinal berth. Only one will move forward to face unbeaten Waramuri, an immediate test of their resilience.
The quarterfinal lineup includes; St John the Baptist taking on Agatash Primary at 10:30 am. St John the Baptist brings discipline and pace, but Agatash has the stamina to cause an upset. A matchup that promises early fireworks.
On the other pitch, see Santa Rosa Primary battle with St Alouysius Primary for a spot into the semis. Santa Rosa, one of the tournament’s dominant forces, will look to maintain their unbeaten streak. St Alouysius enters as underdogs but has shown flashes of attacking potential.

MVP Sports Girls’ U11 Schools Football Championship continues with quarterfinal and Semifinal’s action tomorrow at MoE ground.
Following that, West Ruimveldt will match skills with Marian Academy, perhaps the most anticipated clash of the round. Marian Academy has been nearly flawless, but West Ruimveldt boasts one of the toughest defensive units in the tournament.
In the final matchup in the quarterfinal stage, see Waramuri Primary versus Winner of Potaro/Genesis. Waramuri will enter as heavy favourites, but a momentum-charged Potaro or Genesis team could be dangerous.
In the semifinal scenarios, winners of the quarterfinals will advance immediately into the semis, while the losing sides will play for final-eight placement.
Semifinal #1, will see winners between St John the Baptist and Agatash taking on the winners of the Waramuri vs Potaro/Genesis clash. Right after that, the winners between West Ruimveldt and Marian Academy will battle against the winners of the Santa Rosa versus St Alouysius matchup. Tomorrow, the journey to crown the 2025 MVP Sports champions truly begins.
With the strongest field in years, the ninth edition of this celebrated U11 girls’ tournament is poised for a thrilling finish. A double-win tomorrow guarantees a spot in the championship match, but surviving the pressure of back-to-back knockout games will test even the best teams.
