Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF), in partnership with Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, hosted nearly 30 children from various children’s homes to witness Guyana’s matchup against Suriname at the FIBA Women’s Caribbean Championships.

Minister Persaud applauds the action during the match between Guyana and Suriname.
With generous support from Wendy’s Guyana, the children enjoyed the experience of watching Guyana defeat Suriname, enthusiastically cheering on every play during the team’s commanding 106–42 victory over their long-time sporting rivals.
Minister Persaud also engaged the GBF in discussions about deploying coaches to the various children’s homes, noting that many of the children have a strong passion for sports, especially basketball.
