MVP Sports Girl’s U11 Football Tournament…
Kaieter Sports – The Petra-organised MVP Sports Girls Under-11 Schools Football Tournament kicked off yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground with commanding performances from St John the Baptist, Marian Academy, and Santa Rosa Primary, setting an electrifying tone for this year’s competition.

Potaro Primary, West Ruimveldt, and Waramuri Top also entered the winner’s column, each advancing via walkovers due to opposing teams failing to show.
Following a vibrant March Past ceremony, the ninth edition of the tournament roared to life, witnessing two standout individual performances from Thalia Alert and Rovena Johnson.
St John the Baptist (SJTB) wasted no time stamping their authority, crushing Smith Memorial 7–0, led by the brilliant midfield mastery of Thalia Alert.
Alert delivered one of the tournament’s most explosive opening displays, scoring a blistering hat-trick in just five minutes. She found the net in the 19th, 21st, and 24th minutes, propelling SJTB to a commanding early lead and setting the tone for the rest of the match.
Elianna Grant added a second-half brace, while Anitacia Livan chipped in with a 40th-minute strike to seal an emphatic victory.
Santa Rosa Primary matched SJTB’s margin of victory with a dominant 7–0 triumph over Genesis Academy, thanks largely to the unstoppable Rovena Johnson.
After Bre Atkinson handed Santa Rosa the perfect start with goals in the 4th and 7th minutes, Johnson took complete control. She delivered a dazzling four-goal performance, scoring in the 9th, 17th, 28th, and 29th minutes, thrilling the crowd and firmly establishing herself as one of the tournament’s breakout stars.
Marian Academy also opened their campaign in style, defeating Tucville Primary 6–0. Haley Haberkon, Ella Fernandes, and Haley DeNobrega each recorded braces during an eight-minute scoring burst that overwhelmed Tucville’s back line.
In other results, Agatash Primary and Georgetown International Academy battled to a 1–1 draw, with Rakeyla Joseph scoring in the 15th minute before Sofia Molina equalized four minutes later. North Georgetown Primary and St Alouysius Primary also shared the points in a 1–1 stalemate.
The tournament is sponsored by MVP Sports with support from Demerara Mutual, Sterling Products Limited, Soft n Pretty Toiletry, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, and the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs. It is sanctioned by the Ministry of Education.
