The coordinators explained that the reason for the drawing to be held on the morning before the games is that many teams tend to show up late on the day of their games, and therefore cause confusion and time delays.
he coordinators said in the local village, game time is always an issue with many teams, and therefore, doing the drawing on the morning means all teams registered have to be there for the drawing, or their team won’t be able to play.
In the regional zone, the winning male teams will receive $100,000 and a trophy, while trophies will be awarded to the runners-up, MVP, Man of the Match in the final, best bowler, and best batsman in an innings.
While in the female category, the winning teams will receive $50,000 and a trophy, while trophies will be awarded to the runners-up, MVP, Player of the Match in the final, best bowler, and batter in an innings.
The tournament will continue to use supreme balls, and it’s a one-game knockout competition that will use round-arm bowling with extras in place.
According to the release, over thirty (30) teams will be in action and vying for the regional top spots to enter into the national playoffs, which will be played on the 29th and 30th of November at a venue to be named.
The organisers said that spectators should be prepared for an action-packed day and lots of excitement in the games as players take to the fields to show their skills, exposing their talents as they put all their energies into the game.
It’s the true belief of the organizers that the tournament once again will bring our people together across various villages/communities/regions in unity through sports and strengthen the game of softball cricket locally.
The organisers said that softball cricket is the grassroots of all forms of cricket, and it nurtures our youths to move on in playing all forms of the game at the very highest level, and it also brings families, friends, and communities together.
In the national playoff of the tournament, the winner in the male category will walk away with $1 million and a trophy, the runner-up $250,000 and a trophy. Prizes will be awarded to the MVP, best bowler, best batsman, and man of the final.
