Early morning fire destroys furniture store at Bartica
(Kaieteur News) – Fire of unknown origin completely destroyed a three-storey building which housed a furniture store belonging to Ryan and Emily Mahadeo in Bartica, Region Seven early Saturday morning.
The Guyana Fire Service said that reports of the fire were received by the Bartica Fire Station at about 02:29hrs. Water Tender #126 and Water Carrier #24 were immediately deployed to the scene.
The three-storey building which was destroyed by a fire on Saturday morning at Bartica.
Upon arrival, firefighters saw the three-storey concrete and wooden structure fully engulfed.
“Despite the efforts of the responding team, the building and its contents were destroyed completely. Four jets, operating in conjunction with both responding appliances, were employed to bring the blaze under control. According to the Station Officer Johnson, firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings, effectively containing the blaze to the affected property,” the release stated.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
