(Kaieteur Sports) – Exciting action in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Georgetown/ City Mayor and Friends Under-17 100-over competition continues today with two games across the city.
The lads of Transport Sports Club will be hosting the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) while Malteenoes, playing at home, will welcome the Everest youths; with both encounters bowling off from 9:00h respectively.
In last weekend’s round, Bel Air Rubis defeated Malteenoes by 66 runs after posting 154 all out, led by the dynamic Arun Gainda who led with 69.
Support came from Antonio Chan (18) and Ashton Collins (17), as the trio of Kyle Gibson (2-18), Akeem Persaud (2-18) and Deshawn Ramnauth (2-25) led Malteenoes’ bowling attack.
In reply, Malteenoes were skittled out for just 87 in 25.5 overs. Persaud returned to score 21, as no other player got going.
Gainda wrapped up a brilliant game by claiming 2-6 while Munesh Outar (2-15), Narindra Isurdeen (2-15) and Shaeed Seymour (2-24) chipped in beautifully for Bel Air Rubis.
Over at Bourda Ground, Malteenoes snatched a one wicket victory to upset the home team GCC who posted 180 all out from 41.2 overs.
Omarian Cummings (43) missed a fifty while Shahid Ramzan (25), Trilok Nanan (25) and Shane Shivbarran (23) all chipped in with useful runs.
Bowling for Malteenoes was spearheaded by Joshua Budhram who returned 5-42 with help coming from Deshawn Ramnauth (4-35).
In a shaky effort, Malteenoes managed to reach 181-9 thanks to a match-winning knock from Nathaniel Ramkhelwan, who scored 57, with Kyle Gibson adding 31.
The young sensation Ramzan claimed 3-7, as Ravaldo Pereira (2-12) and an experienced Nanan (2-31) and Nathaniel Sukhnanan (2-32) sliced through the opposition.
Meanwhile, in a rain-affected game at Bourda, a visiting Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) posted 130-3 from 21 overs after the national youth core of Nathan Bishop (48*), Makai Dowlin (23), Kishawn Silas (19) carried the batting.
The pair of Bradley DaSilva who grabbed 2-27 and Jooziah Singh 1-25 looked threatening before the match was called off due to bad weather.
