(Kaieteur News) – Guyanese is real creative people. Give dem a system and dem gon find a shortcut. These days, you can’t trust who you see in a wheelchair at the airport. Some of dem walking better than Usain Bolt but soon as dem taxi pull up, a wheelchair waiting like chauffeur. Dem sit down nice and proper, looking like dem just come out of surgery, and the airline staff pushing dem through all the lines like royalty.
Dem boys seh is a new kind of “fast track” service — no need fuh VIP lounge, no need fuh pay extra. Just ask fuh wheelchair when you buy you ticket and you set. Straight through security, no long line. Straight to immigration, no questions. Straight to boarding, before the pilot even wake up.
One lady tell dem boys she try it once. She say she couldn’t believe how easy it was. From check-in to plane, everything smooth like baby skin. She land in Guyana, same thing — priority service, bags ready, breeze through immigration. She seh she gon always use wheelchair now, “just to avoid de stress.”
But God don’t sleep. When she reach outside, she pickup late. Two hours she sit down in the wheelchair watching everybody else drive off. By the time she get pick up, she legs numb fuh real.
Dem boys seh next thing you gon hear is people renting wheelchair just fuh skip the airport line. Some gon even practice looking weak so it look convincing. But careful! The day you really need it, wheelchair service gon be full up with all dem “healthy” people pretending fuh be sick.
Guyanese don’t like wait. Dem like shortcut more than dem like pepperpot. But one day, when the whole plane full of wheelchair passengers, who gon push who?
Dem boys seh Guyana turning into the only place where everybody fit, but nobody could walk.
Talk half. Leff half

Not only does it happen in Guyana.
It’s the same situation at JFK Airport- NY, Orlando Airport, Florida.
I cannot vouch for other airports since I use only these 2 in the US.
They want to get in quick, early, avoid the long lines at boarding.
However, they still have to wait on me even if I am the last one to board.
