– As DVA concludes Georgetown Leg of the Republic Bank National B-Division Volleyball Championship

Demerara Volleyball Association crowned Classis Ball Blasters, Georgetown champions.
Kaieteur Sports – The National Gymnasium came alive from October 4-5 as the Demerara Volleyball Association, in partnership with Republic Bank Limited, served up a thrilling two-day spike-fest in the National B-Division Volleyball Preliminary Competition. When the final whistle echoed across the hardwood, it was none other than Classic Ball Blasters (CBB) Volleyball Club who soared above the rest, sweeping both male and female divisions and stamping their ticket to represent Georgetown (Demerara) at the upcoming National Championships.
The Georgetown leg brought together some of the capital’s fiercest volleyball clubs, including CASTROL Volleyball Club, Guyana Defence Force Volleyball Club (GDF VC), Saints VC, and Vanguard VC, but it was The CB Blasters who brought the heat, delivering big blocks, high-flying kills, and unmatched team chemistry throughout the competition.
In the women’s faceoff, CBB went up against Saints VC, and the Blasters wasted no time asserting dominance. With crisp sets and sharp cross-court hits, they secured the first two sets 25-16 and 25-23, before Saints pushed back in the third with a spirited 13-25 set win. But the Blasters regrouped, dug deep, and turned defense into offense, closing the match 25-18 in the fourth to claim the top spot in the Georgetown leg.
On the men’s side, the Blasters blazed a perfect path to the final, with commanding wins over Saints (3-0) and GDF (28-26, 25-20, 25-22) before surviving a five-set thriller against Vanguard VC.
That semifinal clash had fans on the edge of their seats. The scoreline swung like a pendulum, CBB taking Set 1 (25-20), Vanguard bouncing back in Set 2 (19-25), then edging ahead in Set 3 (23-25). But the Blasters didn’t flinch. They rallied back in the fourth (25-20) and then torched the fifth set 15-10, showcasing their championship mettle and setting up a highly anticipated final against Castrol VC.
In the men’s championship showdown, Classic Ball Blasters brought the hammer, dispatching Castrol VC in straight sets: 25-15, 25-19, 25-16. Their offence flowed like a well-oiled machine, with perfectly timed quick sets, precision serving, and highlight-reel spikes that ignited the gym. Their synergy on the court proved unstoppable, as they transitioned effortlessly from defense to attack, controlling the tempo from start to finish.
With both Classic Ball Blasters’ squads crowned Region 4 champs, they will now go on to represent Georgetown at the National Championships later this year. Their clean sweep is a testament to the power of preparation, discipline, and teamwork, echoing the broader goals of the Guyana Volleyball Federation to rejuvenate the sport across the nation.
The tournament is sponsored by Republic Bank Limited and sanctioned by Guyana Volleyball Federation.
