Stabroek Ballers on course to securing 2025 Deputy Mayor Cup title

With strong backing from the Deputy Mayor of Georgetown Denise Miller, this electrifying Seven-a-Side Inter-Ward Football Championship has rallied players from across the football spectrum; young talents, seasoned campaigners, and veteran stars all united under one cause: to celebrate and uplift community football.

After a brief pause due to unforeseen circumstances, the tournament returns in explosive fashion this Sunday, September 28, with a thrilling “Night of the Finals” at the Police Sports Ground, Eve Leary. Eight of the best Ward teams will clash in an intense knockout format—four quarterfinals, two semifinals, and one grand final—all in one night.

Quarterfinal Line-up includes; Albouystown taking on Stabroek Ballers6:00. Then at PM 6:30 PM, Back Circle ‘B’ will face off with Pele. Following that at 7:00 PM, the mighty Uitvlugt Stars will take on Bent Street in the ultimate challenge and round out the quarter final fixture see Soesdyke Warriors challenge Liliendaal Strikers for the final spot into the semifinals.

Winners from each match will return later that night to battle it out in the semifinals, as the road to glory quickly narrows. The semifinal fixtures will be determined based on the outcomes of the quarterfinals, with the winners of Albouystown vs. Stabroek facing the victors of Uitvlugt vs. Bent Street, and Back Circle ‘B’ vs. Pele going up against the winners of Soesdyke vs. Liliendaal.

Teams to watch: Bent Street, a fan favourite, will look to continue their dominance but Pele stands firmly in their path. Stabroek Ballers, led by standout players like Dwayne James, Sean Taylor, Sherman Welch and company, have shown impressive form and could be a dark horse. Back Circle ‘B’ brings high energy and sharp tactics, making them a formidable force in the final eight.

One last dance. Come witness who will walk away with the crown.

The tournament, heavily supported by the Guyana Police Force, boasts a massive $1.1 million prize pool: First place will receive $500,000 as well as Ricks & Sari hampers and championship trophy. Second place will secure $300,000 in cash and runner-up trophy while third and fourth place will take home $200,000 and $100,000 in cash as well as placement trophy.
