Kaieteur News – The Ministry of Education on Friday confirmed that it is aware of two recent incidents of bullying among students and noted that the matters are under investigation.
According to a statement from the ministry, bullying has no place in the education system and together, schools, families, and communities, must work to foster environments where every child feels safe, valued, and able to learn.
“The Ministry of Education has taken note of two recent incidents involving acts of bullying among students circulating on social media. The first involved students attached to Charity Secondary School and 8th of May Secondary School in Region Two. The second incident occurred at the New Campbellville Secondary School in Georgetown,” the ministry explained.
The ministry has initiated detailed investigations into both incidents with a view to taking necessary disciplinary measures.
The ministry said it condemns all forms of bullying and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that every learner has access to a safe, respectful, and supportive school environment.
“The ministry continues to encourage students, parents, and educators to report any acts of intimidation or violence so they can be addressed swiftly and appropriately,” the statement read.
