Kaieteur Sports – The Westside Golf Course came alive this past weekend as dozens of players, families, and several international competitors joined locals for the thrilling $500,000 Hole in One Guyana Golf Challenge.
Top local golfer Richard Hanif (Guyana) and visiting golfer Ian Bahadursingh (Trinidad) came closest to capturing the grand prize. With no winner declared, the prize will now roll over to next weekend, increasing to $750,000 and raising the stakes even higher.
The CPL tickets were won by Stephanie Affonso, who produced the nearest-to-the-pin shot of the tournament.
Adding style and excitement to the event, Mi Amor Models dazzled in spectacular golf outfits as they joined in the action, enjoying their first-ever “GolFun” experience.
The tournament was proudly supported by Sterling Products Ltd, Promotech Guyana, Guyana Beverages Inc, and Sunshine Snacks.
The Westside Golf Course remains Guyana’s only public, non-membership golf facility, featuring a unique layout that challenges both beginners and seasoned players. The venue provides clubs, balls, and coaching at affordable rates, making golf accessible to everyone.
Conveniently located just off the Crane Roundabout on the Schoonard Highway, Westside Golf also offers food, beverages, and a relaxing, breezy atmosphere. Overlooking the greens are luxury condos with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and the new Demerara Harbour Bridge.
The course is also set to become a full-fledged family destination with the upcoming addition of a restaurant and ice cream outlet.
This weekend saw a large turnout from the growing number of women currently involved in golf.
