APA seeks productive partnership with new Amerindian Affairs Minister

Kaieteur News – The Amerindian Peoples Association has extended warm congratulations to the newly appointed Minister of Amerindian Affairs, Mrs. Sarah Browne-Shadeek.
“We encourage you to prioritise strengthening and protecting Indigenous Peoples’ rights, preserving and promoting our cultural heritage and supporting meaningful and sustainable development in our communities,” the APA said in a brief statement.
“We wish you every success in this critical role and look forward to opportunities for a productive and collaborative partnership to advance the collective priorities of Indigenous Peoples across Guyana,” the statement concluded. Browne previously served as parliamentary secretary and hails from Region One. Her appointment is seen as a recognition of her deep connection to Hinterland communities and their priorities.
