Kaieteur News – Police on Wednesday seized a quantity of ganja when they searched the car of a wash bay owner following a search on his Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara property.
In a statement police said ranks from Regional Division #3 conducted an intelligence-led operation Wednesday morning at Lot 569 Uitvlugt Housing Scheme. Police said in a statement that when they arrived at the location a grey Premio motor car (Reg.# PAG 2273) was parked in the vicinity of DC Auto Span (wash bay).
The seized ganja during the police search
According to police, contact was made with Mark Asam, the 19-year-old owner of the wash bay, who resides at the mentioned address. Police searched Asam and nothing unlawful was found. The said vehicle (PAG 2273) was taken to the Leonora Police Station, where a further search was done on the motor car, during which one orange bag, one multi-coloured bag and two white bags, all containing parcels of marijuana, were found in the car trunk.
The suspect was cautioned, arrested and placed in custody at the Leonora Police Station. The narcotics were weighed in his presence and amounted to 177.675 lbs. The suspect is in police custody pending charges. The vehicle and narcotics were lodged.
