Dear Editor,
The Guyana Joint Services, comprising the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), and its partners, the Guyana Police Force, the Guyana Fire Service, and the Guyana Prison Service will be voting today one week ahead of September 1, 2025 General and Regional Elections in Guyana.
At a recent at press conference held by A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) I noted that presidential candidate Mr. Aubrey Norton, pledged to improve the living and working conditions of our disciplined service members once elected to serve our country for the next years with;-
I truly believe that A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) policies to improve the living and working conditions of our disciplined service members are commendable since they stand on the frontlines of safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty, protecting its security, and ensuring the safety of every citizen.
The APNU Coalition has a leader who has strong philosophical convictions, vision and importantly, political experience and nimbleness. He is educated, articulate, and down-to-earth and very academically sound. Mr. Aubrey Norton is a man of the people, as is evident in his decisive victories at the past two PNC/R bi-annual Congress Leadership Elections, back-to-back. And yes, Mr. Norton believes in grassroots organising and is focused heavily on people-centered governance.
What was realised in the attendance turnout at Cuffy Square-Durban Park on Sunday July 06, 2025 was the result of a well-organised, planned and executed outcome because of his leadership. He believes in the grassroots and meeting people in society in normal social environments, neighbourhoods and villages, even as he has the knowledge and knows how to deal with, and engage in high levels of discussions on domestic, regional and international policy issues and affairs. He is not boastful or arrogant, but more so, assertive, and in many ways, humble. He is going to make an excellent leader for Guyana. Mr. Aubrey C Norton leads, listens and learns from the people.
I therefore call on all our disciplined services members to seize the opportunity today Friday, August 22, 2025 and vote for Mr. Aubrey C Norton and his Prime Ministerial candidate Ms. Juretha Fernandes so that their living and working conditions can be improved. It is time. A vote for the APUN coalition is a vote for honesty, transparency, fairness, accountability and equal rights for everyone.
Yours sincerely,
Rayvonne P. Bourne
