Dear Editor,
I recently saw a picture posted on Facebook showing the great work the President is doing to help with the flood crisis on the coast. He was bent over shoveling a narrow path for lots of water to come out. Minister Manickchand was closely watching his hard work. The PPP should be applauded for their extensive use of the resources available to prevent flooding. The numerous people who are employed to do this work should take note of the President’s ability to set an example of how the shoveling should be done when the place is full of water.
But on a serious note, delegation and prevention must be embraced by those in charge. The roads should already have outlets for water that are substantial in size, and those employed by the city council and public works departments should ensure that these parts of the road network are clear and effectively functioning.
Mr. President, we thank you for your display of bending over to get the job done, but delegation and time well spent on more pressing preventive measures will do more to help the Guyanese people. You are reminding us of the days when the previous “Fat Boy” would ride around handing out shovels to those in the community. Not the most effective use of the Presidency.
Sincerely,
Mr. Jamil Changlee
