Dharry/Saldana Pro-Am Card… ‘I’m prepared to win’ – Dharry
…urges Guyanese to come out to support
The Boxers will return to the Pegasus Atlantic Conference Room on Friday evening for the Weigh-In.
Kaieteur Sports – Elton Dharry Promotions and NexGen Global Promotions, in association with the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport continue to fit systems into place ahead of Saturday’s Card that has Dharry pitted against Panama’s Roger Saldana in the feature bout.
On Wednesday at the Pegasus’ Atlantic Conference room, Guyana Boxing Board of Control President (GBBC) President Peter Abdool revealed what is to be expected on fight night as the fighters met their opponents and had a few words to share.
“This is an excellent card in terms of the fact that it blends a bit of the new guys coming in, the people that Guyana wants to see. We want to see our new blood where that is coming from.”
Promoter and fighter, Dharry, was quite positive about his approach: “First, let me acknowledge God like I always do. To be here again in Guyana in front of my people. August 9th, I’m prepared to win. If you never see me fight before, you need to show up this time, I’m not going to be coming here much more, my career is coming to an end soon so, I’m going to do a few more before I retire.”

As such, the Promoter urged the locals to come out and support what is expected to be a great evening of fights.
Meanwhile, Edward DeClou and Charwin Estwick are also focused on their National Super Middleweight bout that has the title on the line. Their words were sharp and to the point as they both warned each other.
On the amateur undercard, local talents Abiola Jackman and Terron Wintz are highly anticipated. Jackman, Guyana’s most decorated elite female amateur boxer, will face Trinidad and Tobago’s Merlicia Durham, while Wintz will take on St. Lucia’s Justice Joseph.
Also on the card is Keevin Allicock, who is expected to encounter a tough hurdle that is Colombia’s Omar Cuello, while veteran campaigner Dexter Marques battles another Colombian, Sammy Ramos.
The evening’s proceedings commence with an action-packed amateur undercard, featuring some of Guyana’s brightest young talents.
The August 9th fight night is proudly sponsored and promoted internationally by Pine Grove Inn, Long Island’s premier destination for fine steak and seafood dining.
The penultimate meeting of these pugilists will be tomorrow, Friday, August 8, at the weigh which is scheduled for Pegasus’ Atlantic Room from 18:30 hrs.
