Kaieteur News – Guyanese man does walk round wid chest puff out like pigeon. Big big swagger. Mouth loud like generator. Always talking ’bout “me is a real man.” But leh dem get ketch wid dem pants down—suddenly, the same man does turn baby. Is like somebody switch dem out and put a lil boy in he place.

Dem boys seh Guyanese man does love blow trumpet when dem feel dem in control. Whole day dem calling woman “meh property,” “meh queen,” “meh woman don’t go nowhere.” But let dem side chick message pop up when wifey holding the phone—suddenly, the same man who talking tough does drop to he knees faster than if he playing football in the mud.

“You gon believe dem or you gon believe me?”
“Is just a friend!”
“Yuh know I love you alone!”
“Is she who deh after me!”
And the best one: “I make a mistake… it mean nothing!”

Dem boys seh, is like dem men get a script soon as dem get ketch. And tears? Oh lawd, waterworks like Mahaica River in rainy season. Is sniffling, sobbing, voice cracking. Big grown man who was just calling he boys to brag now crying and promising to go church every Sunday.

Dem boys seh, one man even tell he wife, “If yuh leave me, I gon dead!” But is the same man who was liming by the seawall wid two other gyal last weekend drinking Guinness and talking sweet mouth.

So all this macho thing? Big show. Is like a costume. As soon as the truth drop, the costume tear off, and underneath is just a lil boy begging not to get licks.

Dem boys seh if yuh gon play big man, at least be man enough to face the music—not cry like a baby when yuh get catch singing in two choirs.
