2025 CWI Regional Rising Stars U19 Women’s Championships…
– Deonarain slams century as Guyana seals 9-wicket win
Kaieteur Sports – Guyana suffered mixed results this past weekend as the Women suffered a brutal loss at the hands of Windwards, while Romeo Deonarain’s ton helped script a commanding 9-wicket win over the USA when Regional U19 Rising Stars action continued.
On Saturday, Windwards stomped their way to 53 without loss, replying to Guyana’s lackluster innings which saw them tumble to just 51 all out in the 17th overs.
Opener Amiah Gilbert led with a thumping 28-ball 42 with 7 sixes and a four while Delisha Francois (7*) played the anchor role at the other end as Windwards reached their target in a mere 8.2 overs.
Only Crystal Durant (11) got into double figures for Guyana, who suffered a number of horrific losses this season.
Gilbert completed a majestic game with 5-12 which helped dismantle Guyana early on, along with Daisy Woods (2-14).
Meanwhile, in the Men’s U19 leg, Guyana skipped to a commanding 9-wicket win over the USA, after racing to 181-1 chasing 180.
In-form opener Romeo Deonarain stroked a classy 102 not out off 113 runs with 11 fours and a six, with Rampersaud Ramnauth (38) and Shamar Apple (19*) helping to steer the chase.
USA batting first, were kept to 180 all out in 45 overs with Rahul Bassu 45*, Ansh Bhoje ((32), Amogh Arepally (28) and Shawn Jindal (25) finished as the top-scorers.
Spinner Riyad Latif had a classy game as he grabbed 6-23, while Nityand Mathura (4-44), helped rattle the USA side. (Clifton Ross)
