Finalists to be decided today: ExxonMobil’s U14 Football heats up with Quarterfinals and Semifinals

West Ruimveldt Boy’s will come up against defending champion Chase’s Academic Foundation for spot in today’s semis.

Kaieteur Sports – As the Petra–organised Sixth Annual ExxonMobil Boys’ and Girls’ Under–14 Schools Football Championship enters its decisive stages today (the quarterfinals and semifinals) tension and excitement are reaching fever pitch. The Ministry of Education Complex ground will come alive with a thrilling display of youth football, as the top eight schools in both categories gear up for battle. By the end of today’s fixtures, the stage will be set for the finals of the 2025 ExxonMobil U14 Championships.

With a spot in the highly anticipated finals on the line, every pass, tackle, and goal will carry enormous weight. The teams have already proven themselves on paper, now; it’s time to prove it on the pitch. Fans can expect a day packed with high–stakes, heart–stopping action from some of the best emerging talents in school football.

Girls’ Quarterfinals

In the opening quarterfinal at 10:00 AM, tournament heavyweights Marian Academy, the most dominant force in the girls’ category will take on Vreed–en–Hoop Secondary. Despite some impressive play from the Region Three side, they face a massive challenge against a Marian team led by the prolific Hakey Haberkorn, who has already netted seven goals in the tournament. She will be supported by Kaliegh Todd and Skylar DeNobrega, who have combined for 11 goals so far, making Marian Academy the team to beat.

Chase’s Academic Foundation Girls will face Bush Lot Secondary in the second quarterfinal. The winner will meet the victor of Marian vs. Vreed–en–Hoop in the semifinals. Chase will be hoping to avoid a repeat of the 7–0 drubbing Marian handed to Bush Lot in the group stage.

Waramuri Secondary, aided by a mix of dominant wins and walkovers, will take on Abram Zuil Secondary in the third quarterfinal. Waramuri has racked up emphatic 9–0 and 10–0 wins, but will face a tougher test today. The winner of that clash will meet the victor of East Ruimveldt Secondary vs. Bartica Secondary, a matchup that promises fireworks. Bartica has been lethal this season, scoring a jaw-dropping 27 goals in just three matches. East Ruimveldt will need to contain Bartica’s fearsome attacking quartet consisting of Kelys Williams, Virlerkys Simon, Neriswar Williams, and Genesha Spencer, if they hope to advance.

Boys’ Quarterfinals

Over in the boys’ division, St. John’s College, powered by dynamic attacking trio Robinho Abrams, Jasiah Nedd, and Shangi Welch will face West Ruimveldt Secondary. St. John’s enters the match in blistering form; having posted 7–0, 11–1, and 3–0 victories, with their only real test coming in a narrow 4–3 win over Charity Secondary.

The second quarterfinal will see defending champions Chase’s Academic Foundation take on Bygeval Secondary. Much will depend on the form of Jashan Haynes and Jadan Christian, who have been goal–scoring machines for Chase this season. The winner of this tie will face either St. John’s or West Ruimveldt in the semifinals.

At 12:00 PM, Three Mile Secondary takes on East Ruimveldt Secondary in what promises to be a tightly contested showdown. Both sides have impressed, but Three Mile may hold a slight edge thanks to their depth and standout individual performers.

Closing out the quarterfinal round will be Waramuri Secondary facing Dolphin Secondary, with the winner going on to face the victor of East Ruimveldt vs. Three Mile in the semifinals. Semifinal action is set to kick off from 1:00 PM today.
