APNU ready to lead Guyana into a new era of prosperity and equity
Kaieteur News – While oil is critical to the development of Guyana, it must be noted that it is not an infinite resource and therefore, has to be used as the basis to develop new sustainable economic activities in Guyana.
The APNU Coalition is ready to deliver a better life for all Guyanese through proven leadership, sound financial management, and a bold, people-centred development strategy that puts you and your family first.
We will fund our transformative manifesto through prudent economic management, a significant reduction and eventual elimination of corruption, the diversification and development of our non-oil sectors through meaningful investment, and expanded revenues from our oil wealth, especially with additional FPSOs set to come online in less than two years. This is not speculation. It is strategic planning, backed by experience and a vision grounded in putting the people of Guyana first.
Our development agenda is measured, focused, and achievable, anchored in better wages, improved salaries, and enhanced benefits for public servants, while simultaneously upgrading our national infrastructure, expanding access to quality healthcare, modernising education, and strengthening social services across the board. These developments will be data driven. Additionally, we will ensure savings for future generations by strengthening the governance and management of the Natural Resource Fund.
Let me remind the nation: from 2015 to 2020 without a cent from oil:
•We renovated almost all the schools left in disrepair by Priya Manickchand.
•We built concrete bridges, paved roads, repaired sea defenses, and expanded road networks.
•We lit up communities, rehabilitated recreational spaces, and enhanced public grounds.
•We provided clean, potable water to underserved areas.
•We delivered a 77% salary increase to public servants — not as a handout, but as a just reward for their service. In delivering increased wages and salaries, we gave those who had less, more. We gave those who had more, less.
We did all of this without oil money.
Since we did all of this without oil money, imagine what we will do with oil money based on sound leadership, prudent financial management and with a government that is not corrupt, not wasteful, and not serving friends, family, and favourites.
All governments make mistakes. We made mistakes. With a renewed team guided by experience and youth, integrity, and compassion, we are ready to lead Guyana into a new era of prosperity and equity.
Guyanese, we’ve done it before and this time, we will do it even better.
This is the people’s time. This is time for all of us.
It’s time for a people-centred government. It’s time for APNU.
