Kaieteur News – Dem boys seh dem never see a dinner without dinner until dem watch de photos from de PPP big-big fundraising bash at Arthur Chung Convention Centre. Dem seh it was a fundraising dinner, but from de photos, it look more like a meeting with water and soft drinks.
Now dem boys hear de PPP claiming 12,000 people show up. Twelve thousand! That is like de National Stadium sold out, plus some people standing up pon the grass outside. But when yuh check de Convention Centre, even if yuh stack people like sardines, yuh , de place cannot hold 12,000. That would cause a stampede if something went wrong!
Dem boys seh if 12,000 people deh deh, where dese people find parking ? Even de road outside de Convention Centre woulda deh lock down like Mashramani day.
And lemme tell yuh bout de food—or rather, de ghost of food. Dem boys comb through every picture like dem searching for clues in a murder mystery. Not a plate of cook-up, not a lil chicken wing, not even one plantain chip in sight. Just bare plastic cups and cheap bottled water. Some people even look like dem pass by accidentally and decide to sit down fuh five minutes.
Dem boys seh if is a fundraising dinner, then where de “dinner” part? Or maybe de PPP mean it was a fasting dinner—come fuh raise funds but leave hungry. Is like going to a wedding and all yuh get is a piece of mint and a plastic spoon.
Perhaps de cameraman did too shy to show de dinner. But all dem photographs what dem boys see did not spotlight the food. And a dinner is about food. So where was the dinner. And what was served. Bun-rice?
And leh we not talk bout de attire. If you hear “fundraising dinner,” yuh expect tuxedo, bow tie, champagne and people talking fancy. But from how many persons dressed, it did not look like a gala event at all.
Dem boys seh next time, call it a fundraising lime—at least nobody gon expect food, formality or facts!
