Education Ministry to provide grief support to pupils of Adrianna’s school
Kaieteur News- The Ministry of Education says it will be providing grief support to the pupils and staff of Parika Primary School, where Adrianna Younge was a pupil.
The ministry said a specialised team from its school support services will visit the school on Monday, April 28, to provide trauma counseling. The intervention will be led by Ms. Ann Greene, former head of the Child Care and Protection Agency, who brings a wealth of experience in child protection, emotional care and grief and trauma counselling, the ministry noted.
“The sessions will aim to provide pupils, teachers and staff with a safe space to process their emotions, receive professional support, and begin the journey toward healing. The Ministry remains committed to prioritizing the mental health and well-being of all affected and will continue to monitor and provide support as necessary in the weeks ahead,” the ministry conveyed Sunday.
“We stand in solidarity with Adrianna’s family, the staff and pupils of Parika Primary School. The Ministry of Education remains dedicated to offering comfort, compassion and care during this time of grief.”
