Dear Editor,
A New and United Guyana (ANUG) at this time and with a heavy heart extends heartfelt condolences to the Younge family in this most irreparably difficult circumstance.
A young life was snuffed under questionable circumstances and words cannot begin to describe the incalculable hurt, anger, and grief burdening this family as all Guyana mourn the gruesome murder of this young 11-year-old child, Adrianna Younge. As difficult as this is to conceptualist much less accept, ANUG pleads with our citizens to show restraint and let good sense prevail at this tense time of tragedy.
In the space of two weeks, the GPF again is under the microscope for the manner in which they handled this delicate situation – from the moment they received the missing person report to the finding of the body. In ANUG’s view, a lot of things went haywire for the GPF. The GPF seems unable either by choice, negligence, or lack of training to handle emergency situations like these and to contain the crime scene. At this time, ANUG calls for a swift and transparent investigation. The Divisional Commander should be placed in front of a Disciplinary Tribunal and let the chips fall where they may. At this moment, a transfer isn’t enough. ANUG calls on the President, C.O.P, and Police Service Commission to place these seemingly culpable senior and junior officers on administrative leave so as not to compromise an ensued impartial and thorough investigation.
Further, no stone should be left unturned to unearth the murderer(s) and produce incontrovertible evidence that would validate conviction(s). Further, ANUG calls on all our political partners not to exacerbate this already volatile situation for political one- upmanship.
Guyana weeps for you, Adrianna????.
Regards
Javeed Ally
