2025 DCB U19 Inter-Association…
-Balgobin, Latiff among tournament MVPs
Kaieteur Sports- Georgetown emerged as this year’s Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) Inter-Association U19 Inter-Association 50-Overs Champions, after terrorizing the competition with curtains coming down on a highly-competitive tournament.
In the final round played this past weekend at Lusignan Ground, East Coast inflicted a brutal 7-wicket thrashing on the East Bank lads.
Batting first, East Bank’s decision after winning the toss backfired as they were knocked over for 67 all out 31.1 overs
Deonarine Dindial (12) and Saayad Lakeram (11) tried but the East Coast duo of Nityanand Mathura (5-8) and Neeran Bani (3-20), had other ideas.
East Coast then raced to 70-3 in 10.4 overs after a scorching innings from Lakram Sukhdeo 39* (4×4 1×6), which negated any efforts from Vamol Lall (2-21) and Altaf Rahim (1-16).
Mathura copped the match award for best player while tournament performances this year saw the Player with the most runs in the tournament Award going to the talented Sachin Balgobin, with 277 (29×4 14×6), including a record 214*.
Award for most wickets went to the sensational Riyad Latiff, who had 11 scalps with his best returns being 5-24.
MVP of the tournament Award also went to Lafit for his 11 wickets with the ball and 98 runs with the bat, sadly missing a ton with his eye-catching 62 top innings of 94.
In the end, the title went to the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) who dominated this year’s U19 Inter-Association, playing unbeaten to the very end. (Clifton Ross)
