Kaieteur Sports- After months of preparation the day is finally here and all roads lead to prestigious Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) for the annual Phagwah one day horserace meet.

Mrs. Chand Kennard receives the prestigious Metro Stationay and Office Supplies Trophy from the Manager for the Feature C1 and lower event.
Thousands are expected to swarm the Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice venue, today Sunday March 16, for what is being dubbed the horserace meet for the year so far.
There are six races on the day’s card. A hefty $6M in cash, trophies and other prizes are at stake with a number of the country’s top horses entered to compete.
A specular line up has taken entry for the feature C1 and lower event and that alone is worthy of the day’s entrance fees, dubbed the Metro Stakes compliments of the Metro Stationery and Office Supplies Company. The winner will race away with $1.2M and trophy over 7 furlongs. A virtual who is who for horses in that category has taken entry. Those inked to go include Beckham James, Stolen Money, Spankhurst, Bossilina, John Bull, Ritorna Vincetori and Stormy Victory. A gate to pole battle is in the making.
The co-feature F class and lower seven furlongs event is also expected to be keenly contested. The likes of Morning Colours, Creemore, Beckham James, Forlance Kingdom and Full Force will be gunning for the win.
Picking a winner for the H and lower seven furlongs event will be a difficult task as a close race is in the making.
The Three years-old Guyana Bred six furlongs matchup is expected to be another crowd puller. The likes of Ruff Time, I’ll have Another, She’s Perfect, Royal Guard, Easy Bella, Citation, Rude Boy ll and Perfect Gold will all be looking for the perfect finish.
A large field is expected in the event for J and lower horses.
The final event listed on the day’s card is for L class open animals.
Bestowed with having one of the best horseracing facilities in the country, the KMTC is accredited with staging well organized horserace meets.
The KMTC is in splendid shape and a riveting day of racing is anticipated with mouthwatering action.
Outstanding individual performers, including top jockey, top trainer and top stable will be rewarded compliments of the Trophy Stall.
Last minute queries can be made with Satish Bowan on 610- 0250, Isaac Dalloo- 689-0629, T. Jagdeo- 618-7278, Campton Sancho 682-8550 or Ropnauth Sewsankar- 678-6722.
