Kaieteur News – A 20-year-old-man was on Wednesday remanded to prison when he appeared in court on a charge of allegedly robbing Reynolds Charles on Sunday.
It is alleged that on October 22, at Kingston Street Georgetown, Omar Anderson of Lot 91 Block F Sophia, a vendor of Bourda Market, robbed Charles of one iPhone valued $120,000 and $35,000 in cash.
The accused appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, before Acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, where the charge was read to him.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge. The prosecutor objected to bail on grounds that the defendant has a history of committing similar offences. The prosecution noted to the accused was sentenced to six months imprisonment for the charge “Robbery Under Arms” earlier this year, and was released in July. The magistrate then refused bail and Anderson was remanded to prison. The next scheduled court date is set for November 15, 2023.
