(Kaieteur News) – A 31-year-old Orealla, Region Six man, Andrae Wayne Thomas, who was reported missing by his family on July 28, has reportedly been located alive in Blue Mountain Backdam, Region Seven.
Thomas’ sister shared the update with Kaieteur News on Friday, saying he made contact with relatives and informed them that he was safe. According to his sister, Thomas explained that while making his way home to Orealla from Itabali Landing, Region Seven, he diverted to “Blue Mountain” after being offered work there.
He reportedly said he lost cellphone service along the way and was therefore unable to immediately inform his family about the change in his plans or his arrival at the location. Prior to resurfacing in Blue Mountain, Thomas’ relatives had last heard from him at around 4:25 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, when he called his mother to say that he was coming home.
His sister had previously told Kaieteur News that the family expected Thomas to arrive in Orealla on Wednesday afternoon, but he never showed up. The following morning, relatives tried repeatedly to contact him and became increasingly concerned when they could not get a response.
“We called Wednesday morning and the phone rang out. Then we messaged and it was like somebody had the phone—the message read—but there was no response. After lunch, the phone turned off,” his sister had explained. Thomas’ resurfacing brings an end to the family’s anxious search for him.
