– Parents need help to save his life
Kaieteur News – The parents of a three-year-old boy, Shiv Thompson is in dire need of financial assistance to save his life, after he accidently fell into a pot of boiling water at his home in Mabaruma, North West District, Region One. The accident occurred three days ago.
Thompson sustained severe second degree burns to 50 percent of his body and had to be quickly transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). Doctors there have managed to stabilize his condition, but due to the extent of his injuries, he has to be airlifted to the United States of America (USA) for an emergency surgery.
An international charity foundation, ‘Saving Hands Emergency Aid Inc. (SHEA)’ is providing assistance for Thompson, but due to his critical condition, he cannot travel on a commercial flight.
Speaking with Kaieteur News on Sunday, SHEA’s local representative, Rita Sugrim said that the air ambulance needed to transport him to USA costs some US$60,000.
SHEA has started raising funds for the medevac, but have only managed to get close to US$5000 so far. However, with Thompson’s life at stake and because of the good working relationship SHEA has with the US Air ambulance company, it has agreed to make the trip and collect the payment later.
“They have deferred the payment, but we will still need the money”, Sugrim said.
The Air ambulance landed in Guyana last night to transport Thompson to the US for emergency treatment.
To assist Thompson’s parents in paying off the cost for his transport, persons can visit SHEA’s website, https://savinghandsemergencyaid.org/shiv, for information on how to donate.
Person can make donations via MMG to 650-8658 or deposit cash in Lori Narine’s savings account at Demerara Bank. The name of the account is Lori Narine and the account number is 2041325.
