ICC Women U19 World Cup…
Kaieteur News – West Indies Women Rising Stars will face Indonesia today in their second Group C encounter of the inaugural International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup, at the North West Cricket Stadium in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
The ladies from the Caribbean, currently second in their Group behind New Zealand, go up against the Asian side from 7:45am ECT.
Both New Zealand and West Indies have two points from their opening win against Indonesia and Ireland, respectively, but the former is ahead with a superior Net Run Rate (NRR) of 4.405, compared to the latter’s 0.350.

Ireland occupies third while Indonesia are last, both without points and inverted NRRs from their opening matches.
Prior to West Indies’ showdown today, New Zealand and Ireland will contest the other Group C match at the same venue from 4:00am ECT.
This past Sunday, the Women in Maroon commenced their campaign under the leadership of skipper, Ashmini Munisar, and were able to secure an 8-run win over Ireland to claim their points.
Batting first, West Indies posted 125 – 3 in their allotted over then restricted the opposition to 118 – 7 when their overs expired.
Opener Zaida James (52) stood out with the bat for the victorious side with a solid half century. Her opening partner Shunelle Sawh (15) was the first to go with the score on 61, followed by James and Trishan Holder (0), who both fell with the score on 106.
However, Naijanni Cumberbatch and Jannillea Glasgow remained unbeaten on 21 and 13, respectively, as extras contributed a much-welcomed 24. Freya Sargent was responsible for the dismissal of James and Holder while Aimee Maguire removed Sawh.
James returned with the ball and ripped through the Ireland line-up to end with four wickets while Munisar, Kdjazz Mitchell and Glasgow all claimed a wicket each. The West Indian bowling effort saw only nine runs being given away in extras as Annabel Squires top scored with 42.
West Indies play their final Group match on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the same venue from 7:45am ECT.
