Dear Editor,
Thursday I got a call from a businessman to check out a security system I’d set up a few years back at his home. The reason is that some thieves try to break into his house and he wanted to see if there was any footage of the culprits’ faces. When I visited the house he showed me the thieves removed the PVC ceiling and attempted to enter the house.
Fortunately for him, the contractors placed the blocks to almost reach the roof/zinc, so the thieves couldn’t get access to enter the house unless they had a hammer to break away the blocks and that would have alerted the neighbours.
Editor, many people complain of contractors doing shoddy work on their house if they are not around, and it’s almost impossible to get compensation for inferior work by contractors, and many would leave huge space close to the roof which allows access into the house. Thieves are always on the lookout for easy access into houses and quite a few people said their houses got broken into in that way. Some are lucky because the contractor goes the extra mile and installs the blocks. The only way to prevent access that way, people have to use wood ceilings on the outside of their house.
