The second edition of the Essequibo Softball Cricket League (ESCL) is set to bowl off this Sunday with a number of matches across Region Two, Supenaam-Pomeroon.
According to the Chairman of the League Wakeel Layne, six teams have confirmed their participation.
When the competition was inaugurated last year, Invaders Masters emerged champions but will be not featuring on this occasion due to personal reason.
However, Layne stated that he is optimistic of another successful staging and fans can expect great entertainment from ball one as a plethora of top softball players will be on show.
He added that in 2021, the entire competition was exciting and fans had a good treat including the final that played at Reliance Sports Ground.
For this year’s edition, the winning side will receive a $100,000 and a trophy while the second-place team is set to cash on $50,000 and a trophy.
There are other prizes up for grabs.
The teams taking part this year are: Ravens Sports Club, Devonshire Castle Sports Club, Hibernian Strikers, Queenstown Tigers, Caribbean Cricket Club and Sunrisers Masters.
