The tournament is scheduled to be played in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from November 5-14. The four group winners will advance to the 2022 Concacaf Men’s Under-20 Championship, joining the top 16 ranked teams. Further details regarding the championship stage will be published in due course.
Meanwhile, the Guyana Football Federation has already commenced its quest to arrive at the best possible team by conducting trials in a number of areas, locally. Successful sessoions were held on the weekend of August 30, 2021 at the GFF National Training Centre where over 90 players from eight Regional Member Associations competed for places in the provisional squad.
The GFF will embark on the North American Diaspora talent ID segment as the body seeks to add to the provisional squad.
The Technical Department will conduct the Florida trails from September 24 -26, next in Miramar. In its open letter of invite, the GFF has advised that all attendees must provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 PCT test on arrival. To register interest or to request further details, persons can contact: techdept@guyanafootball.org.
Leading the Florida initiative would be Men’s National Team Under-20 Head Coach, Wayne ‘Wiggy’ Dover.
