Demerara puts title on the line against Berbice tomorrow
Defending champions Demerara will put their title on the line when they face unbeaten Berbice tomorrow at Bourda in the final of the Dave West Indies Imports 50-over U-15 Inter-County cricket tournament.

Yesterday at Bourda, Demerara, led by a destructive spell from Pacer Joshua Alves who had 6-1, beat the President’s X1 by 117 runs on the D/L/S System in a truncated match while at Lusignan, off-spinner Salim Khan took 7-16 as Berbice hammered Essequibo by 10 wickets with 265 balls to spare.
Demerara elected to bat and led by a 60-run opening stand between Romeo Deonarine who was run out for 20 from 67 balls with two fours and Sachin Balgobin who took 60 balls for his 12. Hemraj Harripersaud clobbered three fours in a cameo 29 from 28 balls while Nityanand Matura (17) was the only other batsman to reach 15 as Demerara reached 163-9 when their 50 overs expired.
Skipper Stephon Sankar had 2-18 from 10 overs while Tularam Ramcharran had 3-29 and Dave Mohabir took 2-30. President’s X1 were routed for 46 in 23.4 overs with extras top sc
oring with 22 as nobody reached double figures as six wickets fell for 23 runs as Man-of-the-Match Alves half of twin siblings had 6-1 while Riyad Latif supported with 3-4.
Earlier, Deonarain and Balgobin added 60 before Balgobin edged Sankar to the Keeper. Sankar then trapped LBW Josh Alves for a duck without addition to the score. And when Deonarain was run out at 61-3, three wickets had tumbled for a run.
Harripersaud batted with positive intent before he was LBW to Mohabir while Matura was looking good on 17 before he was bowled by Afraz Ali Budhoo. Nicholas Sheopersaud (12) was bowled by Mohabir before Ramcharran picked up three quick wickets including that of Alex Datterdeen for 13.
At Lusignan, Essequibo fell for 42 in 25.3 overs as Khan got support from Matthew Pottaya who captured 3-10. Berbice galloped to 44 without loss in 5.5 overs with Rampertab Ramnauth unbeaten on 19.
