The Guyana Government in partnership with the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) have combined to organize what promises to be a pulsating day of T20 cricket matches on February 21 called the Golden Republic T20 Bash at Providence. This forms part of Guyana’s 50th Republic Anniversary year celebrations.

NCN’s Dellon Murray (left), GCB’s Anand Sanasie and Colin Stuart address the Nation live on NCN TV yesterday.
The activities will comprise two matches, the first game seeing top local T20 players competing before the main event which commences at 18:00hrs featuring Regional and West Indian players.
Admission to the venue will be a standard price of $2000 across all stands with the possibility of tickets being available at the Guyana Cricket Board office from Monday February 17.
Present at yesterday’s press launch held at NCN, Homestretch Avenue were GCB Secretary Anand Sanasie, GCB Territorial Development Officer Colin Stuart along with Dellon Murray Marketing & Sales Manager at NCN.
The event, used to sensitize the public of this activity’s scope within the Calendar of Events for Guyana’s Republic Golden Jubilee was broadcast live.
“Cricket, a sport known to unify the masses, has been included in the celebratory programme of events. The game carries the innate characteristic to build both tension and excitement which makes it quite fitting” said Stuart.
Sanasie provided viewers with insight into the day’s line-up of activities, noting a softball match beginning at 14:00hrs between Guyana’ top team, Regal Super Stars and Ariel’s Speed Boat will get things going as the teams battle for a cash prize.
The T20 match will see players being attired in the special attire: “To exemplify the level of inclusion which the teams will compromise, local T20 players such as Steven Jacobs along with national players and regional players will complement the Hetmyer Hurricanes and Rutherford’s Renegades teams, in exception to those who are on West Indies duties. The stakes are much higher in this segment of the day’s activities as the teams compete for a grand prize of one million Guyana dollars and individual performance incentives” informed Sanasie.
This event will be populated by other special appearances and attractions, geared to take the action well to mid-night.
Murray spoke of the pivotal role NCN will play in delivering a live broadcast of this event to the Guyanese population. Highlighting the reach of the National Broadcasting Network in delivering the action which will occur on 21st February, he drew attention to the radio stations available, being the Voice of Guyana and its latest radio station, Radio Essequibo, among others.
For viewership, the game will be delivered through their network and available even to those with a cable network and a live stream across their social media pages. (Sean Devers)
