DEAR EDITOR,
I have read with much alarm the death an elderly citizen, Edward Subryan, under questionable circumstances at private hospital in 2014. I must applaud Kaieteur News for picking up on an issue of which there have been many whispers.
For years, patients have been complaining of poor service at the hospitals.
There have been questions, of course, about procedures and the tests they were being sent to undergo.
The shocking revelations in the report, as carried by Kaieteur News, should have galvanized the authorities to act or say something. Perusing the articles, it was worrying to see that the names of the doctors were not carried.
The people of Guyana should know the name of the hospital and the two doctors.
It is for their own protection. I don’t agree with the newspaper for self-censoring itself like this.
The story speaks volumes. The Health Ministry, private hospital and the Medical Council all have to answer. This is highly unacceptable.
C. Persaud
