A number of senior citizens from the Belladrum community were brought good cheers Sunday last, compliments of SBF Petroleum.
SBF Petroleum is a Guyanese-owned business, under the directorship of Dorwain Bess, a native of Belladrum.
SBF Petroleum is involved in the bulk sale and retail of petroleum products. With its main office in Georgetown, the company has bulk terminal facilities at Friendship, East Bank Demerara as well as at Christianburg, Linden, together with filling stations at Crane and Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara.
Director and Chief Executive Officer of SBF, Mr. Dorwain Bess, said that it is part of the plan of management to give back to the community by bringing cheers to senior citizens. At present, the company is targeting 300 seniors.
So it has delivered a hamper each and $5,000 to seniors in Linden. Having covered Belladrum, the plan, accordingto the CEO, is to be in the West Ruimveldt area shortly.
According to Mr. Bess, he was quite moved by the response of the seniors, and the company will be seeking to make it even better next time around.
The original plan was to do the distribution in December, but the company was forced to make some adjustments which pushed the event to this month.
The seniors were loud in praise to Mr. Bess, and they all expressed the hope of receiving similar treat next year.
The businessman has indicated that he is currently examining the possibility of investing in the Belladrum district whereby the community and its environs may benefit from the services provided while at the same time providing employment opportunities for others.
