Police are investigating a smashup that occurred less than an hour ago at Fairfield, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
According to reports, at least six persons are feared dead.
The accident occurred between a Route 50 minibus and a truck that was transporting beers and other beverages.
Both vehicles were said to be speeding at the time of the accident.
The driver and a passenger were pinned in the front seat of the bus, while five other passengers including a pregnant woman were pitched onto the roadway.
Citizens who rushed out to help reported of bodies littering the roadway. Some of the victims are said to be two doctors, two nurses, a pregnant woman and a University of Guyana (UG) graduate.
