Police are investigating an alleged robbery that occurred just after midnight on Monday. According to the Commander of ‘B’ division, Calvin Brutus, six persons have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigation.
Reports reaching this publication stated that three armed bandits attacked an overseas-based Guyanese and his wife who had just arrived at their John’s East Berbice home. The incident reportedly occurred just after midnight on Monday.
Police sources have since stated that the alleged robbery took place when the couple exited their vehicle in front of their John’s Port Mourant home when they were unexpectedly attacked. The men were reportedly hiding in the next-door neighbours yard.
The overseas-based Guyanese was reportedly beaten by the men as his wife looked on in horror. They were both relieved of their valuables, car keys and approximately US$7,000, their hand luggage. A number of security cameras were also taken.
Police are investigating.
