Round-of-16 action in the 2019 Courts Under-12 Pee Wee football tournament got underway yesterday at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground on Carifesta Avenue with the defending champions, St. Pius Primary registering the most emphatic win to book their place in the quarterfinal.

North Georgetown Primary (right) defeated St. Ambrose (left) 3-1 yesterday in their round-of-16 clash in the Courts Peewee tournament.
St. Pius thrashed Uitvlugt 5-1 with Jamal Fraser netting a brace in the 18th and 39th minute while Bryan Brown, Troy Macy and Donovan Welcome each netted one goal in the win. Uitvlugt’s lone strike was an own goal.
Cleon LaRose and Emmanuel Phillips scored one goal each to fire 2017 champions West Ruimveldt into the last eight after they safely negotiated their way past Enterprise Primary.
Jermaine Mitchell netted a brace while Samuel Tasher netted once to help Soesdyke to a 3-0 victory over Craig Primary.
In other results of the day, St. Agnes beat Redeemer 2-0, North Georgetown got past St. Ambrose 3-1, Genesis edged Mae’s 2-1 and Timehri needled St. Stephens. Wayne Solomon scored in the 10th minute to take Tucville’s past Marian Academy. Ezekiel Yarde’s brace shot Genesis Primary into the next round with a 2-1 triumph over Mae’s.
