Club 45 were crowned champions of the Real Sports Entertainment Group Masters football tournament which concluded recently at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
After winning semi final against Beacons 4-0, Club 45 gained a walk over from GT Panthers in the final. West Demerara won the third place title in similar fashion after Beacons failed to turn up, while GT Panthers beat West Demerara 1-0 in their semi final encounter.
In other preliminary games, Club 45 beat GT Panthers 4-2, Park Masters and West Demerara drew 1-1, Club 45 overcame Beacons 2-0, West Demerara defeated Beacons 2-0, Club 45 beat Park Masters 2-1, West Demerara got the better of GT Panthers 1-0, Club 45 and West Demerara drew 0-0 and Beacons drew with GT Panthers 1-1.
Quacy Price was the highest goal scorer with five goals.
A release from the organisation stated that the players loved the initiative and even asked for a monthly meeting of the masters’ teams. The release indicated that the teams involved were asking for the third place and final games to be postponed, but that was not possible unless there was a consensus as all the teams played under the same conditions.
