Vergenoegen Secondary Sschool is hosting its first ever Pageant under the theme, “An evening of Poise and Elegance” today at the Barnwell Event, Space and Hotel. This is as a result of the rainfall.
Vergenoegen Secondary School is located about a seven minute’ drive from Parika and 35 minute’ drive from Vreed-en-Hoop.
This school opened its door on January 8, 1951 under the name Vergenoegen Government School.
Under the headship of Collette Joseph, the students of Vergenoegen Secondary School wrote CSEC for the first time in 2015.
The dropout rate at this school has decreased significantly. This school has an enrollment of 316 students and 33 teachers. It was accredited as the most improved school in terms of students’ performance at the Region Three award ceremony last year.
This school has been recording 100% pass rate in Home Economics over the years.
This pageant is hosted by the PTA and staff to raise much needed funds to refurbish the Home Economics Department which is in dire need of basic facilities to better prepare students for examination and the world of work
