(Kaieteur News) – The Guyana Power and Light Incorporated (GPL) has announced that the yearly $30,000 electricity subsidy for pensioners will be reflected on their bill for the month of June.
In a statement on Thursday, the company said that, “Eligible postpaid customers will see the subsidy reflected as a credit on their June 2026 electricity bill. For eligible prepaid customers, the subsidy will be available in their Prepaid wallet and can be accessed by visiting any GPL Commercial Office.”
The company said that the annual subsidy forms part of the government’s continued commitment to improve the welfare and quality of life of its elderly citizens. The initiative is aimed at providing meaningful relief by offsetting electricity costs, therefore supporting greater affordability of an essential service.
“GPL is pleased to support this ongoing Government initiative, which continues to deliver tangible benefits to senior citizens by easing the burden of electricity costs and contributing to their overall well-being and quality of life,” it added.
