Imtiaz net champion at MACORP’s annual Golf Extravaganza Company’s Meet and Greet occasion a success

Despite initial drizzles and rain threat which dissipated shortly after play began, over 60 eager golfers took to the Course in a staggered start from 10:45am to vie for honours in what was the largest and most successful Macorp Golf Extravaganza on Saturday last. The occasion was a great one for Imtiaz Subhan to make his mark of distinction as he set a net score of 64 enabling him to walk away with the champion’s trophy.

CEO of Macorp, Mr Guillermo Escarraga noted with delight, that the game of golf requires high standards, integrity, commitment and care – things that Macorp is pleased to offer all its customers in Guyana. And the presence of so many Macorp customers as to fill the accommodation to capacity at the Meet and Greet session which followed the tournament, was a resounding testimony to their satisfaction and pleasure, supportive of Mr Escarraga’s comments, about the great services Macorp has been offering them. Special visit was made by former CEO, the phenomenal Mr Jorge Medina, who was awarded Life Membership by the Lusignan Golf Club before the end of his tenure last year.
Also present, was her Excellency the Ambassador of the Embassy of the United States, Madam Healy, who like Mr. Medina, congratulated Club President Aleem Hussain for the outstanding development being forged by the LGC.
The atmosphere was electric! The camaraderie and competitiveness of the golfers was refreshing and encouraging. The social environment created by Macorp for the day – free drinks, food, plenty of giveaways, many prizes for the golfers and opportunity for customers to learn and practice putting, in addition to promotion of Macorp and ISG products on great display – was a tremendous one. “The occasion,” according to one Macorp Manager, “is a major event on Macorp’s calendar of events for the year”, and they were satisfied that it was a huge success.

This tournament results beg for tabular presentation, so top scores in each Flight are indicated in tables for each of the 4 Flights played – Ladies Flight, and Men’s Flights of handicap 0-9 (‘A’); 10–18 ‘(‘B); and 19–28 (‘C’), giving clear expression to the keenness of the competition in each Flight. A fifth table ‘Rookies’ was added to celebrate the new golfers who, now learning the game, yet persisted to complete the tournament.
Prizes only for 1st and 2nd place were awarded in the Ladies Flight (Shanella Webster-London and Joaan Deo respectively), while prizes for 1st to 3rd places were awarded in each of the Men’s Flights. In the ‘A’ Flight, 1st to 3rd were Aleem Hussain; Avinash Persaud (reigning Guyana Open champion); and Patrick Prashad (former Club Captain) respectively. In ‘B’ Flight, 1st to 3rd were Satrohan ‘Robin’ Tiwari; Lakram ‘Panko’ Ramsundar; and Patanjilee ‘Per’ Persaud respectively. ‘C’ Flight winners were Imtiaz Subhan; Haresh Tewari; and Dr Philbert London – 1st to 3rd respectively.
Tournament champion was Imtiaz Suubhan for his overall Best Net score of 64. The Best Gross (74) and Longest Drive (310 yds) prizes were both won by Avinash Persaud.
Macorp has been a fantastic support to the development of the Lusignan Golf Club since Mr Jorge Medina became involved in the game in Guyana some 23 years ago.
