Andyville is lit!─ nearly 300 to benefit from electricity in Linden community

Through the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Finance, residents of Andyville, Linden, Region Ten were for the first time equipped with electricity.
At a Saturday morning ceremony, scores of persons from the community turned out for the commissioning of Andyville’s new power station, which is slated to benefit almost 300 community members.
Michael Greene, Chairman of Andyville, delivered a passionate summary on the journey his community has travelled to arrive at the historic moment. Greene noted the failed promises community dwellers endured under the previous administration and expressed his delight in seeing their efforts brought to fruition.

Andyville, Region Ten, received electricity for the first time yesterday.

While acknowledging the relentless spirit of those in Andyville, Green stated, “People need to support more and stop criticizing,” with respect to community service.
Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson, highlighted the efforts by the Coalition Government to provide electricity to areas that never had. One day before, the minister commissioned a 5.5 megawatt power plant in Canefield, Canje, Berbice.
Minister Patterson told Andyville’s residents, “On March 21, I’m going to open a new [power] plant in Anna Regina, and in the next month we are going to open a new [power] plant in Bartica.”
Additionally, Minister Patterson noted that the Granger-led administration is not interested in giving “handouts”, but instead is concerned with the development of its citizens.
“We want to empower you,” Minister Patterson emphasized.
Minister of Finance, Winston Jordan, stated, “We are a government of all the people.”
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the transformation of the lives of its citizens.
Also, in attendance were the Mayor of Linden, Waneka Arrindell, and Chairman of Linden’s Electricity Company, Tracey Johnson, who both welcomed the government’s involvement in fostering the progress of Linden.
After securing $39Billion in budgetary allocations, the Ministry of Public Infrastructure remains dedicated to enhancing the living conditions of Guyanese through its projects and initiatives. (DPI)
